The main objective of this article is to gain insights into the procedures governing the recruitment and manning aspects of merchant shipping in Indonesia. The study adopts a qualitative approach, acquiring descriptive information through comprehensive interviews involving crewing managers, seafarers, and cadets undergoing maritime training as an integral aspect of their seafarer's education. These interviews are also extended to encompass the Consortium of Indonesian Manning Agencies. Furthermore, the research includes direct observations at PT Silo Bahari Nusantara. By employing qualitative methods, the study extracts descriptive data through in-depth interviews conducted with crewing manager and seafarers employed at PT Sillo Bahari Nusantara, and cadets currently undergoing seaboard training as a crucial component of their seafarers’ education. This training aims to equip them with the necessary skills to obtain seafarers certification, enabling them to become proficient and enduring seafarers. The research also delves into associations linked to the Consortium of Indonesian Manning Agencies.
