Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) are often left out in the designs of digital artifacts such as websites, banking apps, online learning, shopping apps, and many more, which leads to inefficient usage and denying accessibility for PWDs. Such a situation triggers the need to explore how digital artifacts can be designed for PWDs to maintain inclusivity and provide accessibility. This paper aims to extract the ideas for designing digital artifacts for PWDs, specifically for the visually impaired, towards social innovation. Using a creative pattern-matching strategy for idea generation, a number of 55 participants took part in the ideation session. The findings revealed some creative and out-of-the-box ideas for designing for PWDs who are visually impaired. The ideas are presented as design strategies for visually impaired users. They are much more concerned with non-typical design and critical issues of mental health, which is suicidal among PWD students. It is enlightening that the participants gave much concern and attention to such an alarming issue, which denotes their awareness of the PWD communities. It is thus critical to increase the accessibility and inclusivity of PWDs.
