GREEN Minds: A Digital Recycling Toolkit to Empower Women and Children
摘要
To address the never-ending issue of solid waste management, the “Green Minds” initiative proposes a digital recycling toolkit tailored to empower women and children in Malaysia and the Philippines. The toolkit aims to leverage technology and community engagement to enhance environmental awareness, promote sustainable waste management practices, and create economic opportunities for marginalized populations. The project recognizes the critical role of women as social capital within households and local communities and seeks to strengthen their involvement in waste management activities. The digital platform will provide educational resources, interactive tools, and a centralized system for waste collection and recycling, empowering women and children to become active agents of change in recycling activities specifically. This paper presents the development process of the Digital Recycling Toolkit, emphasizing on the process of understanding the problems, followed by requirement gathering and design strategies. The paper continues with a discussion on future work and best practices for solid waste management to be incorporated.
