The Cognitive Science of Mindfulness
摘要
This chapter argues for the benefits of a cognitive scientific approach to the study of mindfulness. Specifically, it argues that cognitive science provides a synoptic integration of many different disciplines talking about mindfulness at different levels of analysis corresponding to different levels of reality. Such an integration helps to avoid equivocation, fragmentation and to afford the disclosure of the causal interactions between these different levels of reality of mindfulness. In doing so it generates a plausible account of mindfulness. Additionally, this chapter will argue how the framework of plausible synoptic integration reveals central properties and processes at work within mindfulness.
