Leveraging Beliefs in Treatment: Outcome Expectancy, Treatment Credibility, and Self-Efficacy
摘要
Beliefs about one’s ability to engage in a behavior as well as expected outcomes from those behaviors influence patient outcomes and engagement in cognitive behavioral therapy. In this chapter, we describe the work that has been done to characterize beliefs about treatment in the context of anxiety disorders, to confirm the importance of these beliefs as they relate to treatment outcome, and describe a case vignette to highlight how to optimize beliefs in the treatment of a case with an anxiety disorder.
