Mapping the Landscape of Halal Logistics Research: A Bibliometric Analysis
摘要
In supply chain management, Halal logistics ensures the application of Halal principles from the initial point through production, storage, transportation, and distribution to maintain the purity of Halal goods, as noted by Khan et al. (J Glob Oper Strat Source, 2023 [1]). This approach encompasses overseeing product handling and the flow of necessary information and certifications from the source to the consumer, maintaining compliance with Islamic Shariah-based Halal guidelines. Integrating technologies like traceability and tracking mechanisms can elevate the quality and transparency of Halal services and products, offering better oversight across the logistic functions. The deployment of tools such as RFID for product tagging and GPS for tracking locations is vital in crafting a robust traceability and tracking framework within Halal logistics, as indicated by Zaharah Wan-Chik et al. (Technologies and Trends in the Halal Industry. Routledge, pp. 206–220, 2023 [2]). The current research undertakes an extensive bibliometric assessment of 79 Scopus-indexed works. Thus, the study aims to elucidate the technological integration within Halal logistics, mainly concentrating on Halal transportation and storage. The insights from this research will enrich the compendium of knowledge pertaining to Halal Logistics and Halal Supply Chain Management. Expectations anticipate that these insights will heighten recognition among Halal industry managers, emphasizing the significance of technological application in executing Halal logistics to preserve the authenticity of Halal items along the supply chain. Notably, the article “Halal Logistics Opportunities and Challenges” garners the highest citation count at 84 within the scope of this research area. Furthermore, the Journal of Islamic Marketing is the most frequently cited publication, highlighting seminal works’ critical role and impact in Halal logistics research. “Halal logistics” and “Halal” are among the most commonly mentioned keywords, underscoring their dominant presence in the scholarly discourse of this field.
