IoMT-Enabled Smart Insole for Real-Time Detection of Unilateral Weights Bearing

Prolonged unilateral weight-bearing can lead to various musculoskeletal problems, particularly in the knees and legs. This paper presents the design and conceptualization of a smart insole system to prevent such issues by monitoring the weight distribution and providing real-time feedback to the user. The system integrates force-sensitive resistors (FSRs) and an MPU-6050 motion sensor connected to an Arduino Nano 33 BLE microcontroller to detect and analyze the user's posture. Data are wirelessly transmitted to a mobile application, alerting users to redistribute their weight when necessary. Future perspectives include the integration of artificial intelligence for predictive analysis and cloud services for data storage and remote monitoring. The smart insole system offers a promising solution for improving postural habits and preventing musculoskeletal problems.
