Digital Twin for Industrial Workplace Safety

Digital Twin (DT) have emerged as a cornerstone technology in Industry 4.0, offering unparalleled capabilities for enhancing safety within industrial environments. Defined as virtual representations of physical assets, processes, or systems, DT enable real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, and proactive risk management. In the context of Industry 4.0, DT leverage advanced technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning to bridge the gap between physical operations and digital simulations. This paper explores the applications of DT in improving safety within Industry 4.0. Key functionalities include real-time data acquisition from IoT integrated sensors, which facilitate continuous monitoring of operational conditions and environmental factors. AI-driven analytics within DT support predictive maintenance, hazard identification, and anomaly detection, thereby preemptively addressing potential safety risks. Moreover, DT empower decision-makers with actionable insights derived from comprehensive data analysis, strengthening overall safety protocols and risk management strategies.
