A Maturity Model for Evaluating the Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Context of Industry 4.0
摘要
Industry 4.0 is instigating rapid changes, even in complex and uncertain environments such as the industrial sector. This concept addresses an innovation strategy aimed at redefining manufacturing industry, thereby enhancing global competitiveness through cost reduction, more flexible processes, and higher quality products. Conversely, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is spearheading a significant revolution in organizational management and operation, reshaping professional routines and redefining society’s interaction with technology. The escalating complexity of business landscapes, particularly the intrinsic challenges within industrial sectors, coupled with continuous technological evolution, solidifies AI as a tool not only for driving innovation but also for optimizing efficiency and bolstering competitiveness across all organizational spheres. In this context, grounded in a theoretical exploration of Industry 4.0 maturity models, this study presents the development of a structured model for assessing the current state of the industry in terms of evolutionary maturity levels in AI utilization. This index will elucidate companies’ readiness and proficiency in AI implementation across its quotidian and strategic processes. Through the ongoing use of this tool, companies will also be equipped to visualize its growth across the studied domains.
