We discuss claims in the literature which suggest that double holography is in tension with causality and argue that this tension is resolved if the theory on the brane is correctly treated as an effective field theory. In order to discuss the causal structure of the theory on the brane the notion of domain of dependence needs to be replaced and we propose possible candidate regions. This contribution to the proceedings is based on [1].
