Industrial goods marketing, like any other organizational function in companies, is subject to constant change. Therefore, marketing departments of various forms and stages of development can be found throughout the industry. In order for the approaches, tools, concepts, and models described in this publication to be implemented as effectively as possible in marketing practice, it is crucial to use a congruent reference framework in the form of the B2B marketing maturity model. This model allows B2B marketing managers to evaluate the respective maturity level of their marketing department and to identify the appropriate measures in this book based on this. The aim of this approach is to prevent too complex and not maturity-appropriate activities and projects from being implemented in the departments or MarTech tools from being purchased that would only represent a sensible investment at a later point in time or when a higher marketing maturity level is reached. The goal is to protect B2B marketing managers from mistakes and an ill-considered, inconsistent, and above all, unsuccessful approach in order to achieve a corresponding positioning of B2B marketing in industrial companies in the long term.
