Increasing the Energy Output of Photovoltaic Systems Equipped with Monoaxial Solar Tracking Mechanisms with North-South Horizontal Rotation Axis Through Backtracking Algorithms
摘要
One of the Sustainable Development Goal 7 targets is the substantially increase of the renewable energy share in the global energy mix by 2030. In this context, the installed capacity of photovoltaic (PV) systems is continuously increasing worldwide. Another way to increase the energy output of PV systems is possible if solar tracking systems are used. When a high number of PV strings are installed, self-shading may occur, blocking the direct solar irradiance and reducing the electrical energy output. A solution based on a backtracking algorithm is presented in the paper. The results show that the output of a PV system equipped with a monoaxial solar tracking mechanism with North-South horizontal rotation axis could be increased with 26.4% through backtracking.
