Nowadays, silicones are commonly used in the field of medical research and application. Soft tissues of the human body are distinguished by their cellular composition and characteristics. This research aims to characterize extra soft platinum silicone to replicate a model of the thoracic aorta and approximate the mechanical properties of the artery. By developing molds to get samples, according to current standards, and using a universal testing machine (stress tests) the mechanical properties were characterized in a total of 5 samples. Through specialized clinical software, a reconstruction of a 3D model of the thoracic aorta was developed and used as a mold. The replica can be obtained by applying and releasing silicone through a brush method on the mold. The results show an ultimate tensile strength up to 1.769 ± 0.109 MPa with a percentage elongation at break of 932.23 ± 68.03% and an incremental Young's modulus up to 224 ± 12.48 kPa; the replica of the thoracic aorta in translucent platinum silicone was obtained employing a vertical-brush method, with a thickness of 1.82 ± 0.14 mm and the absence of leaks. This work supports the fostering innovation goal 9 on the application of materials to get an approaching of arteries.

摘要
