Sustainable agriculture is significant in meeting the growing demand for food, fibre, and fuel while maintaining environmental integrity. This chapter entails the advancements in agronomic practices to conserve soil and promote plant health to ensure long-term agricultural productivity. This study's primary goals are to appraise soil management methods, including cropping, cover cropping, crop rotation, mulching and conservation tillage to reduce soil erosion, facilitate soil structure maintenance and increase soil organic matter. In addition, integrated nutrient management and biological control agents for pest management and water-conserving strategies such as drip irrigation and rainwater harvesting have also been discussed. Sustainable soil health depends on the role of microbial communities, and introducing disease-resistant plant varieties is essential to reduce chemical inputs. This suggests that using these advanced and sustainable techniques will aid in producing healthy soil ecosystems and resilient crop growth and curtail environmental impacts. The strategies to be further explored in future research include the global application of these techniques across various ecosystems and improving farmer education and outreach programs to promote the adoption of these strategies across varied ecosystems. These integrative approaches are essential to achieving sustainable agriculture that also satisfies ecological and economic objectives.
