AI Integration into Curriculum Design and Development: Theoretical Framework and Application

This research has deeply explored, analyzed, and synthesized the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in the design and development of curriculum at the university level by establishing a theoretical framework and highlighting applications. Practical application in teaching helps change educational outcomes. The study includes an orderly review of AI-based development curriculum initiatives in various academic fields and a detailed case study conducted at the University of Education - Vietnam National University. The results have confirmed the critical role of AI in improving adaptability and pedagogical effectiveness. Our empirical findings show significant quantitative and qualitative improvements in learning outcomes. For example, after the trial at Vietnam National University, the AI-based curriculum increased student engagement by 40% while improving average test scores. Average 25% in many different subjects. Student learning paths are personalized and powered by AI, which smoothly adjusts instructors’ teaching content in real time based on student performance indicators, needs, and abilities - resulting in a significant boost in student engagement. Students are encouraged to develop essential 21st-century competencies such as analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities through that orientation. Furthermore, AI integration accelerates curriculum development based on available resources and enhances blended learning environments conducive to critical thinking and creative problem-solving. This comprehensive also contributes fundamental arguments to the educational technology forum by providing insights, detailed experiments, and specific strategies to exploit AI for students effectively and educators. Besides, this study also describes the robust adaptability of AI in defining the curriculum framework, which will provide lecturers, educators, and learners with future advancements. Digital technology will be applied effectively.
