There are several accessories and tandem techniques introduced to laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) to enhance the analytical capabilities of this widely used spectroscopic tool. Among these, microwave-enhanced LIBS (MWE-LIBS) stands out, as it can function both as an accessory that adds value to LIBS and as a standalone microwave plasma spectroscopy technique. This chapter discusses the physics, features, and practical implications of using MWE-LIBS. Examples of MWE-LIBS applications are provided to help researchers new to this development navigate the instrumentation according to their application needs. We also demonstrate the advantages and disadvantages of MWE-LIBS, with a focus on important applications such as 2D mapping and nuclear debris sample analysis, which serve as key motivations for using MWE-LIBS.

摘要
