Innovative Approach to Well Foundation Construction in Deep and Dynamic River Environments: A Case Study of the Meghalaya Assam Bridge Project
摘要
Construction of well foundation in deep and dynamic river environments presents significant challenges, particularly in the absence of traditional methods such as sheet pile cofferdams. This paper presents the innovative approach adopted for the Meghalaya Assam Bridge Project (MABP) over the river Brahmaputra, involving use of Caisson-based well foundations and a specially designed Sinking Set Barge. The methodology includes the fabrication and launching of the Caisson, its transportation to site, and its sinking to the riverbed. The Sinking Set Barge plays a crucial role in accurately positioning and stabilizing the Caissons. This paper discusses the challenges faced, the solutions implemented, and the benefits derived from this innovative approach.
