Advancements in Polymer Utilization for Deep Foundation in Challenging Environments
摘要
Polymer utilization in drilling operations has undergone significant advancements, offering innovative solutions for challenges posed by harsh environments. By exploring, the application of synthetic polymers, polymer additives, and nanocomposites addresses the challenges in drilling fluids. The contributions of these polymers extend to enhancing rheology, filtrate generation, cuttings transportation, and fluid lubricity. Moreover, the polymers and polymer additives have effectively addressed severe drilling problems. The research investigates the intricacies of establishing foundations in demanding soil conditions, emphasizing contemporary practices. The study encompasses borehole stability technology, encompassing both chemical and mechanical strategies to ensure a secure borehole throughout and after the drilling process. In this context, SNF has devised internal laboratory tests dedicated to selecting the ideal perforation fluid formulation tailored to the encountered soil conditions. The investigation covers perforation in diverse environments such as sandy soil, gravel soil, non-stable soil, salty water, and brines. The findings from these studies inform the design of effective drilling fluids and appropriate additives. The research also delves into the examination of viscosity, filter loss, and fluid loss, employing the guidelines of API 13A and B-ISO 10414-1, complemented by specifically designed SNF test procedures. The polymers playing a crucial role in revolutionizing drilling operations, offering more efficient and environmentally conscious approaches for challenging drilling conditions.
