A study was conducted that analyzed the impact of artificial intelligence in the field of mental health, focusing on the area of Psychology during the period 2019–2023. The research combined a mixed approach by integrating a bibliometric analysis and a qualitative analysis of the most relevant articles in the Scopus database as the primary source. The bibliometric analysis revealed a significant increase in scientific production related to the application of artificial intelligence in mental health. Key trends were identified, such as the use of machine learning algorithms for the diagnosis and early detection of mental disorders, the development of interventions and therapies assisted by artificial intelligence, and the personalization of treatments using predictive models. Ethical implications and concerns about privacy and algorithmic bias in implementing these technologies were also explored. Psychology professionals faced the challenge of integrating these tools responsibly by ensuring patient confidentiality and well-being. It was concluded that artificial intelligence offers significant opportunities to improve psychological practice by expanding access to mental health services and enhancing treatment efficacy. However, addressing the associated ethical and practical challenges is critical to establishing robust regulatory and ethical frameworks.
