As we acknowledge the impact we have upon the planet, we must find viable methods to bring science to public policy. While social media is often noted for its negative effect on mental health, physical activity, and social dynamics, it also holds great opportunity. Accessibility and ease of use for social media platforms provide almost unprecedented reach and opportunities for scientific communication. This chapter is focused on the work of the Environment, Community, Health Observatory (ECHO) Network and the use of conventional and more recent forms of knowledge mobilization using an innovative, integrated approach to state of the watershed reporting through the creation of a “Health in the Watershed Atlas”, based on a case study of the Battle River and Sounding Creek watershed in Alberta, Canada. To increase accessibility and usability of the atlas, media platforms such as TikTok and YouTube were used. The question emerges whether it is worthwhile for those working in environmental policy research, watershed management or similar disciplinary fields to engage in such mobilization strategies. As health and environmental policy continue to be politicized, initiatives such as the videos or atlas may provide an important point of reference for the public, educators and policymakers to consider.
