Mangroves mitigate environmental impacts such as coastal erosion and provide essential ecosystem services. However, oil spills, pollution, and urban sprawl threaten these habitats, leading to adverse socio-economic consequences for coastal communities. This study explores the resilience and adaptation lessons drawn from mangrove conservation efforts across West Africa. Case studies from countries like Nigeria, Senegal, and Guinea-Bissau highlight successful restoration projects and regional collaborations that have promoted sustainable management practices. These initiatives, supported by both local communities and policy frameworks, demonstrate the importance of integrating traditional knowledge with modern conservation techniques. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the critical role of mangroves in enhancing community resilience to climate change and contributing to long-term coastal development. Recommendations include scaling up community-led initiatives and incorporating mangrove conservation into national development plans.
