This chapter concludes the book African Food Systems: Rethinking Prospects for Continental Sustainable Transformation. This is achieved through revisiting the key debates and outlining the significant conclusions arrived at and recommendations made by the chapters in the book. The chapter draws from secondary literature on African food systems to identify the critical debates on food system transformation and resilience and then makes policy recommendations on the ideal future of African food systems. The primary conclusion is that African food systems must be more independent and rely on domestic rather than external resources. It recommends regional and regional collaboration to confront food system challenges and only look outside the continent for products that cannot or are costly to produce locally. The book discusses the impact of several factors, namely climate change, war and conflict, and hyperinflation, on food systems.
