The Quest for Emotion in Leisure and Its Contributions to Human Development: Experiences of Higher Education Teachers
摘要
This paper explores leisure imaginaries and their correlation with human development among faculty members in a Colombian higher education institution. The researchers gathered data through questionnaires and interviews using a qualitative approach alongside statistical techniques. The primary variables and analytical focal points included thoughts, emotions, and leisure practices. By triangulating the data, the researchers identified patterns and trends that elucidate the leisure imaginaries within this demographic. The findings suggest that leisure experiences serve as a means for teachers to navigate challenges, offering avenues for personal development and a sense of liberation from regulated environments. Emotions linked to leisure encompass happiness, tranquillity, joy motivation, sadness, and nostalgia. Professors express eagerness to explore their creativity and participate in activities that yield enduring happiness. However, concerns emerge about the absence of loved ones and a yearning for personal pursuits free from external impositions. This exploration underscores the significance of leisure beyond mere rest, emphasizing its potential for fostering human development.
