This paper examines the digital behavior of city residents, using the example of St. Petersburg. Digital behavior refers to the activities and interactions of people in the digital space, such as posting messages, commenting, likes and other manifestations of activity on the Internet. The relevance of studying this area is explained by the increasingly significant role of social networks, messengers and other means of communication in people’s daily lives, as well as their impact on various aspects of society, including communication, electronic participation, social relations and public opinion formation. An interdisciplinary approach has been applied to the study of digital behavior, combining traditional methods of sociology and automated methods of collecting and processing information from social networks. Traditional methods of sociology allow the analysis of social processes, interactions and motivations of people, while automated methods provide extensive data analysis, pattern detection. The purpose of our study was to identify the main markers of users’ digital behavior through conducting sociological surveys and analyzing the demand for digital services. We sought to assess the current situation and potential growth points, as well as apply a multidimensional approach to studying the digital strategies of city residents. The use of open data was supposed to show the prospects of the work and lay the foundation for future detailed research.
