Global public goods will always ultimately be decided upon where political powers centre. Where political powers are, lobbyists are with the attempt to influence the decision-making. Lobbying has undoubtedly benefits like whistle blowing and providing decision-makers with consequence-analyses and other reports. Risks though lies in great part with transparency and difficulties with accountability, potential nepotism and the mixing of private and public spheres. A crucial part of enhanced transparency is knowledge on what actually happens when politicians and lobbyists meet. This chapter will draw of the results of 7 weeks of shadowing politicians and lobbyists in Brussels done by the author and show strategies the lobbyists are pursuing to make their chances as large as possible to influence politicians, both in the short and the long term.

Global public goods will always ultimately be decided upon where political powers centre. Where political powers are, lobbyists are with the attempt to influence the decision-making. Lobbying has undoubtedly benefits like whistle blowing and providing decision-makers with consequence-analyses and other reports.
