Bone remodeling occurs throughout life and serves a main function of renewing/replacing bone tissue. The process of bone remodeling is complex, can be estimated through bone histomorphometry, and can be modeled through mathematical calculations. Such calculations provide a means of hypothesis generation to assess/understand the physiologically complex nature of remodeling. Bone modeling and remodeling play a fundamental role in fracture healing, which integrates both physiological processes on an accelerated timeframe.
