Design of a Fifth-Order Wideband Bandstop Filter Using Stepped Impedance Resonators

In this paper, a fifth-order wideband bandstop filter employing a quarter wavelength series transmission line and stepped impedance resonators is proposed. The wideband bandstop filter consists of a dual-stepped impedance resonator at one end of the series transmission line and tri-stepped impedance resonator at the other end. This combination produces five transmission zeros in the stopband. The frequency of the transmission zeros can be controlled by varying the impedance values. The proposed filter is designed on AD250C substrate using Ansys HFSS full-wave simulator. The stopband response is centered at 1 GHz and the cut-off frequencies are 0.32 GHz to 1.69 GHz. The simulated 3 dB and 20 dB fractional bandwidths are 136.3% and 118.36%, respectively.
