IoT-Enabled Smart Crib for Baby Health Monitoring, Sleep Tracking, and Parental Notification System
摘要
Parents often struggle to balance their busy schedules with the needs of their infants, making it challenging to provide the necessary care especially in rural communities across Somalia. While hiring a nanny is an option, it’s not affordable or acceptable in rural areas. To support those parents, a smart cradle using Internet of Things (IoT) technology has been developed. This system monitors an infant’s physiological and environmental conditions, including humidity, temperature, moisture, and crying. It also features a swing mechanism and a conditional DC fan that activates when temperatures rise. Data from these sensors are transmitted to a mobile app, enabling parents to remotely monitor their child’s status in real-time. The system was tested and demonstrated reliable performance, significantly enhancing infant comfort and safety. The integration of mobile app monitoring offers a convenient and effective solution for infant care, potentially reducing parental anxiety and improving the child’s well-being.
