Analysis and Prospects for the Development of Humanitarian Demining Methods

Landmines and unexploded ordnance remain a severe threat to human security and development, claiming lives, restricting resources, and hindering economic growth in many regions. Humanitarian demining is critical to restoring safety, mobility, and dignity in affected areas. Despite progress in demining technologies ranging from manual methods to detection dogs and mechanical systems there is an ongoing need for safer, more efficient, and cost-effective solutions. This chapter introduces an innovative approach: a hydrodynamic destroyer for demining using electric discharge in liquid. By generating a hydrodynamic force to neutralize landmines, this system offers a safer and more efficient alternative to traditional methods. The research emphasizes augmenting human capabilities with technology rather than replacing human deminers, aiming to reduce risks and save lives. The chapter includes a review of current demining methods, a detailed description and modeling of the hydrodynamic destroyer, and a start-up project proposal. This work seeks to advance demining technology and inspire further innovations to alleviate the dangers posed by landmines.
