The Transformation and Desiccation of Lake Texcoco’s Soil: A Legacy of Urbanization and Resource Demand
摘要
The Basin of Mexico is located in the center of the country. Due to its unique geological, climatic, and hydrological features, an important lake system developed here, including Lake Texcoco. Since pre-Hispanic times, Lake Texcoco has sustained cultures and shaped their way of life. Over time, it underwent profound transformations, including almost total desiccation, resulting in environmental degradation and disequilibrium. Nevertheless, life persists, testifying to the resilience of nature.
