This series of photos showcases the characteristic landscape of the Mixteca Alta (Photo 1), whose original name, Ñuu Savi, means “People of the Rain.” The landscape bears witness to a long history of severe soil erosion and degradation (Photo 2), evident in the presence of large gullies and barren mountains.
