This chapter provides a social glimpse into Philippine Catholic Church formation practices in the context of the Catechetical Ministry (CM). Through visual sociological analysis of archival photo-elicited images drawn from the National Catechetical Study (NCS) 2016–2021: Pastoral Action Research and Intervention (PARI) Project, now called NCS 2021: PARI Project Extension-Synodality Enriching Evangelization Design (SEED) Catechetical Module-Making Workshops (CMW). Conceptually, this inquiry interrogates how CM formation practices depict the lives of Filipino catechists, catechetical leaders, and catechized, specifically in their active role in forming social spaces which is portraying a shared experience of Catholic religious socializationReligious socialization. Methodologically, this chapter also highlights the various visual sociology strategies that lay the foundation on the whole process of discovery and visuality. This chapter argues about the persistence of the Catholic faith in the Philippines through the socio-reproductive dynamic visually depicted in CM formation practices, signifying the symbolic dimensions of solidarity in the photo-portrayals of CM in the country. This visualization contributes to (a) understanding the sociological concept of solidarity in religious institutions, and (b) exploration of an uncharted discourse on the use of visual images in relation to the intertwining sociologies of visuals, education, and religion which focuses particularly on the sociology of Filipino Catholicism in the context of CM in the Philippines.
