Concluding Remarks: Rating Agencies and Democracy
摘要
This concluding chapter revisits the book’s main findings and reflects on its key implications. Additionally, it relates the argument developed to two other prominent themes in the academic debate surrounding rating agencies. The first is the rise of right-wing populism, which has posed challenges to liberal democracy in the Western world. The second is the climate breakdown and environmental crisis. In both cases, the rating agencies can play a significant role for better or worse, given the power they hold in the contemporary global financial order.
