The utility of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in online Health Professional Education (HPE) has come to the fore with the release of publicly accessible online generative AI (GenAI) interfaces. The result has been an exponential increase in the use of these digital tools in HPE design and delivery. In this chapter, we outline current and emerging applications of AI in digital HPE contexts, divided into three major categories: Ethical implications of AI use in HPE are also discussed as they form a key consideration for any educator. Finally, a basic roadmap of institutional and professional responses to AI in digital health education are outlined to help educators be best positioned to effectively and constructively utilise this game-changing new technology in their own context.
