Is It Safe to Have My Teeth Removed If I Am on Bisphosphonates?
摘要
Bisphosphonates are anti-resorptive medications widely used in various contexts to prevent adverse skeletal-related events. They inhibit osteoclasts, which are responsible for breaking down and reabsorbing minerals such as calcium from bone (the process is known as bone resorption), and allow osteoblasts (bone-building cells) to work more effectively, improving bone mass. Bisphosphonates are commonly used for osteoporosis and other less common primary bone conditions such as Paget’s disease and osteogenesis imperfecta.
