Entropical Turns
摘要
In early 1936, as he was drafting his play about the dictators called Geneva, Bernard Shaw started a new play originally entitled “O Bee Beeze Beez” but quickly rechristened The World BettererShaw, Bernardplays\“The World Betterer”. From there, the play’s origin story gets decidedly murkier, as he briefly returned to it a year later but then inexplicably abandoned it for nearly a decade, during which another devastating global war occurred and the initial world-bettering prospects of authoritarianism (at least in the hands of Hitler and Mussolini) tarnished rapidly for the playwright.
