The study examines the challenges and opportunities of the Iraqi banking sector in embracing AI through a mixed approach of opinion polls and interviews. It established that the usage of AI within the Iraqi banking sector stands at 40%, while several of the critical impediments are: lack of adequate updated infrastructure, a shortage of skillful cadres, resistance due to cultural values, and costliness. But notwithstanding, AI presents the possibilities for operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. These recommendations for studies on infrastructure investment, awareness, employee training, and strategic partnerships are likely to help speed up the pace of AI adoption and economic development.
