COVID-19 has caused severe adverse outcomes among older adultsOlder adults. According to the Centers for Disease Control and PreventionPrevention, the death rate among older adultsOlder adults was 533.5 per 100,000 in 2020. Their risks increased with age and underlying medical conditions. In the United States, the number of people with at least one chronic disease in the older adult population is estimated to increase from 71.52 million in 2020 to 142.66 by 2050. Within that timeframe, this population is expectedExpected to grow from 137.25 to 221.13 million.
