Sub-Saharan Africa is grappling with significant challenges related to climate changeClimate change and food securityFood security which are magnified by the genderGender disparities. The convergence of climate changeClimate change and food securityFood security should be addressed through a gendered lens. The contribution of womenWomen to agricultureAgriculture and food production is significant and hence improving their productivity will help in achieving better levels of food securityFood security. To examine and establish the correlation between food securityFood security and genderGender in Sub-Saharan Africa, this chapter analyses regions based on the availability of data from 21 countries. By combining both quantitative data and qualitative insights, this chapter analyses the challenges as well as opportunities faced by womenWomen in the agricultural system. The generalized least squares approach is used for running a panel data regression and to empirically establish a relationship between agricultural productivity and genderGender metrics. The results indicate a significant relationship between productivity and genderGender in Sub-Saharan Africa. This chapter reaffirms that womenWomen make essential contributions to agricultureAgriculture and its productivity, and hence genderGender-sensitive initiatives will bring forth desired results on food securityFood security in the context of climate changeClimate change.
