Impact of Adsorption on the Fate of Mobile CO2
摘要
Following cessation of CO2 injection, the mobile portion of injected CO2 continues to migrate and leaves adsorbed CO2 behind. Along the path of migration the mobile phase decreases as it contacts newly accessed pore surface and gets adsorbed. In the end all CO2 can be immobilized, similar to the scenario predicted for CO2 immobilization by classical residual trapping. However, the adsorption immobilization can reduce the overpressure more effectively.
