Background: The Advanced Training in Clinical Simulation Center of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City enhances students’ medical skills before they begin their hospital practice. However, due to the large number of students and limited center availability, clinical skills practice is constrained. A convenient tool is needed to support skill review and improve clinical practice adaptability. Methods: The study consisted of two phases: Phase 1: Surveying student needs for platforms that support clinical skills practice and identify essential application elements. Phase 2: Developing and presenting the concept of a clinical skills simulation application. Results: Phase 1: A survey of 178 students from three universities revealed that 33% of them learned a procedure in about 1 h, over 40% performed procedures only once, and most students faced time and space limitations for review. Over 70% of students expressed the need for an application to review procedures and improve proficiency and assessment scores. Phase 2: The simulation application concept was demonstrated through a video clip accessible via a QR code. Conclusion: Survey results indicated a strong need for an application to help medical students review and become proficient in clinical skills, thereby improving assessment outcomes. While the application might not provide the realism of a simulation center, it promotes active, multi-dimensional decision-making and interaction with clinical scenarios.
