Iqbal and the Metaphysics of Creative Flow
摘要
This chapter will look at metaphysics of flow in Iqbal’s thought. To do this, the influence on Iqbal by Henri Bergson, in particular, will be examined. Iqbal adopts many elements from Bergson’s metaphysical view. However, he also modifies many elements to fit his own philosophical vision. As is typical in his approach, Iqbal attempts to name figures from within the Islamic tradition that he sees as precursors to the metaphysical principals he is putting forth. Ultimately, the metaphysics of flow is at the heart of his conceptions of subjectivity and divine action explored in the following two chapters.
