PGPR plays a pivotal role in promoting plant growth and mitigating soil-borne pathogens. Bacillus pumilus, characterized by its phosphate solubilization and IAA production capabilities, stands as a promising candidate among PGPR. This study focussed on the isolation and identification of Bacillus pumilus strains from soil samples and their subsequent evaluation for phosphate solubilization and IAA production. Moreover, the antagonistic effects of Bacillus pumilus against Fusarium equiseti, a causative agent of yellow leaf disease in Brassica juncea, were investigated. Results demonstrated the potential of Bacillus pumilus as an effective PGPR, showing significant phosphate solubilization, IAA production and in vitro antagonism against Fusarium equiseti. The findings suggest the applicability of Bacillus pumilus in sustainable agricultural practices for enhancing nutrient availability and combating plant diseases, thus paving the way for further research and practical utilization in agricultural systems.

摘要
