This chapter explores the assessment, evaluation, and exam practices in Turkish Schools of Foreign Languages (SFLs) within the unique context of the country’s English preparatory programmes. It highlights the integral role of these practices in measuring language proficiency, guiding instruction, and ensuring student readiness for academic and professional challenges. The chapter comprehensively overviews traditional and alternative assessment tools, including proficiency exams, placement tests, formative assessments, and summative evaluations. Emphasis is placed on exam design, administration, and evaluation procedures, along with the role of rubrics and multiple markings for consistency and fairness. By analysing current practices, the chapter identifies areas for standardisation, including forming independent testing teams and offering structured training in assessment literacy. Ultimately, it underscores the importance of stakeholder collaboration to enhance the quality and equity of assessment practices in Turkish SFLs.
