Surface Shear HorizontallyWave Propagation in a Half-Space Periodically Stratified with Interfaces of Imperfect Elastic Contact

The shear horizontally (SH) elastic surfacewave propagation is investigated in homogeneous half-space with periodically oriented stack of interfaces of imperfect elastic contact. The transfer matrix method in conjunction with Bloch-Floquet’s approach is extended to study the problem of the surface wave existence. Closedform analytical expressions are presented for localized surface waves. It is shown that the periodic structure can support the surface wave. Bandgaps of counterpart infinite structure induced by periodic imperfect interfaces are studied.
