This chapter focuses on two issues that increasingly have become critical to many couples, namely decisions regarding both relocation and finances. The navigation of both these decisions has become increasingly complex with the changes in family structures and dynamics as well as the workforce. Couples and families often are confronted with life-altering decisions related to one or both topics. This chapter highlights common relocation and financial challenges about which individuals, couples, and/or families seek consultation and therapy. Strategies are offered for assisting couples in effectively working together to make thoughtful decisions in the best interests of each party and the system-as-a-whole. Case examples are used to illustrate the key points.
