摘要

Natural calamities transcend political borders, necessitating international collaboration for effective mitigation. Climate change has extended fire seasons, putting societies at increasing risk from wildland fires. This has prompted countries and international organizations to collaborate on sustainable fire management strategies. Such efforts require a structured and coordinated global approach, with resource sharing to support national fire suppression endeavors. Forest fires are influenced by climate, topography, vegetation, land-use changes, and human activities. The complex geopolitics of international border areas make managing these fires more challenging than those within national boundaries. This highlights the urgent need for enhanced cooperation among neighboring countries to effectively tackle forest fires and protect wildlife. This chapter explores international cooperation in fire management, identifying associated challenges and proposing solutions. Setting aside political tensions is essential for efficient forest fire management. Well-designed forest fire policies can reduce the impact of these fires, but the lack of globally accepted protocols exacerbates the situation. Although several organizations focus on wildland fires, their number is limited, and numerous studies predict an increase in such fires. Therefore, urgent global measures are required to address this growing threat.
