This chapter presents a secant matrix approach for the postbuckling analysis of thin plates with initial imperfections, which applies to laminated composite and isotropic materials. Using classical laminated plate theory (CLPT), the secant matrices are presented by incorporating the additional displacement formulation (ADF). This proposed secant matrix method with ADF is robust compared to Yang’s (1972) secant matrices using total displacement formulation (TDF). The chapter outlines the development of the ADF for constructing relevant secant matrices. The proposed ADF formulation is validated through numerical examples.
