Applying the Total Quality Management Approach to Improve the Supply Chain at the Aggregate Extraction
摘要
A research objective of the present publication is to study and analyze the possibilities of implementing the principles of the Total Quality Management (TQM) approach in the mining of aggregates. TQM is an approach through which managers and employees are able to make continuous improvements to the goods and services offered by the organization. It represents a unique combination of quality management tools aimed at increasing market share and reducing losses that are associated with inefficient activities. The study was carried out by an organization engaged in the mining of aggregates, which has many years of experience in the field. To achieve the objective, a questionnaire was used that covers basic principles from TQM, and the participants were a total of 40 employees. Overall, there was a significant number of employees who agreed that the principles in question were not fully implemented in individual operational activities, leading to problems related to quality and customer satisfaction. As a result, top management takes decisive measures to encourage employees to actively participate in TQM implementation processes. The approach itself requires support from managers, long-term strategic decision-making and highly motivated employees.
