Patients’ Experience in the Digital Healthcare Era: Accessibility, Self-determination, and Proactivity of People in the New Healthcare World
摘要
Health care is evolving from a paternalistic approach to a more participatory model, where patients are increasingly involved in their care. Providing patients with access to their medical records can play a crucial role in enhancing patient co-management. While easy access to consultations in health care is a reality in some parts of the world, other parts are still struggling with preparing the infrastructure and promoting the use and acceptance of these technologies. This chapter demonstrates two cases of access, one in Europe and one in South America, illustrating the development of the access to medical data, the self-determination of patients and providers in this new era as well as the challenges that patients and care providers are facing.
